Where the work began and how the craft took shape.

A life in murals is rarely linear. Mine began in ateliers and old stone rooms, in the quiet discipline of scale, depth and atmosphere. House of Lyria grew out of those early years—a place where craft, memory and hand-painted detail continue to shape every project I take on.

About Stefanie

My work began in Belgium in the late 1980s, where I trained in mural painting, trompe l’œil and classical decorative arts. Those early years—spent in an atelier and historic interiors—formed the foundation of my craft and taught me the discipline of scale, depth and architectural sensitivity.

My practice has since been shaped by years living and working in Europe and the United States, each leaving its own quiet influence on my sense of atmosphere and narrative. What began as a classically trained craft has evolved into the more poetic, garden-inspired murals and atmospheric works I create today.

Designed and hand-painted as my first solo mural project during my training in Wallonia. A fully immersive architectural illusion spanning all four walls, and a formative piece in my early development as a muralist.

My murals can be found in private homes across Europe and the United States, as well as in several public institutions—including cancer care environments, long-term care facilities, and hospital corridors. I also collaborate regularly with a local company on commercial and community projects.
